Lupa (ex-Prismus), the tool that reads science for companies

Thirty Swiss deep-tech companies already pay for a tool that reads science for them. That is the claim behind Lupa (ex-Prismus), and Venture Kick just put CHF 150,000 behind it.

Lupa is a Zurich startup that until recently went by Prismus, which is still its legal name. Its platform connects papers, patents, grants, labs, companies and market signals, then ranks which markets, partners and researchers fit a given technology, with every answer traced back to its source.

On 30 October, Startupticker reported the CHF 150,000 from Venture Kick. It will go into scaling in deep-tech markets and onboarding individual users. The company says its first thirty paying customers are Swiss deep-tech companies using Lupa for customer outreach, market strategy and prioritization.

The team: CEO Elisabeth Blyumin, who studied computational physics at ETH, CTO Timen van Gelderen, Chief AI Officer Gonçalo Hora de Carvalho, and CRO Peter Kempin, who spent twenty years at UBS before leaving to build Lupa full-time.

The hardest sale in deep tech is the first one: finding out who needs a technology that did not exist last year. Lupa is a bet that this search can be turned into a product.
